My cattery is small and will remain small as I believe that it is not possible to provide the same proper care and loving attention to a large number of cats. My breeding cats are primarily pampered pets and I spend lots of quality time with each of them every day. Of course they have permanent access to all rooms in the house. But their favorite place - besides my bed - is the garden which was transformed into a safe 160m² outdoor-enclosure. This run is very natural with lots of grass, bushes, a little tree and many flowers. Here they can play and relax in the sun and enjoy

Although I am rather new to breeding I am very concerned about the future of the Maine Coon breed. This means that I focus on genetic diversity, sound health and especially lovely temperament, but still try to maintain good type. This means also that my primary breeding goals are not just look or size or whatever might be fancy in the moment. Instead I try to create unique matings with a low inbreeding coefficient by blending typey showlines with interesting outcross- and foundationlines. These cats have an harmonic overall appearance and the original look of the Maine Coons.

I select carefully each male and female for best health, type, temperament and pedigree possible. My cats are tested free for FIV and FeLV. They are fully vaccinated annually and receive veterinarian care immediately when needed. I believe that good nutrition plays a major role in overall health and helps in maintaining high immunity levels. So my cats get premium quality food like California Natural, James Wellbeloved and Nutro Choice but also I try to feed a well balanced raw diet as often as possible .... they really love it!!!

I strongly promote regular testing for Hip Dysplasia (HD), Hypertropic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) and Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD). I believe this to be an important part of my responsibilty as a breeder. All of my cats will get tested prior to their first breeding and then continously in intervalls until the recommended age. Unfortunately testing for these genetic defects does not guarantee a kitten will never develope either of these conditions but helps in minimizing the risk.

Please be aware that HCM, PKD, HD or any other health-problem is no more prevalent in Maine Coons than in other breeds. Genetic diseases occur in all living beeings - unfortunately also in felines. So you can find it in all kinds of cats - from the ordinary housecat to the highly refined purebred cat or the original wild cat.
